Golden hour with a canyon view

On a recent golden afternoon I snail-crawled my way through my friend Cat‘s garden as she narrated its spring journey. The tale happily meandered, and so did our feet.

I stopped to admire each glowing moment.

Isn’t this a charming vignette, with a terracotta frog perched among a leopard plant’s lily-pad leaves?

Nearby, a skull with twig antlers — a spirit deer — watches over the garden and its dry creek.

A nubby fountain offers a splashy birdbath. ‘Everillo’ sedge glows at its base. In the stock-tank pond in the background…

…a goldfish convention.

American basketflower shows off lavender, filament-like petals.

And yucca bells ring their sunset song.
