While other perfumes will have you smelling like roses or lavender, a new scent from Le Labo will have you smelling like a work of art.

The cult-favorite fragrance brand has partnered with The Metropolitan Museum of Art to launch a scented candle that’s inspired by an unfinished artwork — a 1908 study for ‘Underneath the Cork Oats’ — by Neo-Impressionist artist Henri-Edmond Cross.
The limited-edition autumn candle is called Laurier 62, and has no fewer than 62 ingredients including seasonal scents like thyme, clove, amber, and sandalwood — all combining to create a rich fragrance that captures the French painter’s complex style.
“We were drawn to the enchanting imperfections of this unfinished piece, and the way the artist felt an urge to capture a fleeting moment, fixing it forever in time,” a media release said. It added that Laurier 62 is fine art meeting fine fragrance “through a shared appreciation of subtle beauty.”
The candle is available in an 8.6-ounce size and can burn up to 55 hours. It’s priced at $92 ($82 if you’re a member of The Met), and can be bought online at The Met Store and Le Labo site, as well as at their respective shop locations.
Sure, it’s a bit pricey for a scented candle, but compared to buying priceless art on display at The Met, it’s a steal.
