These Pendants Practice the Art of Bilanciato – That’s Italian for Balance

A line balancing on a circle: that was the original sketch that launched the creation of the Bilanciato Pendants. Designed by Maine-based studio J Schatz, who also makes modern bird feeders, art objects, and tablewares, the new lighting series is made out of two stoneware pieces, a flat-sided ring and a hollow tube, that delicately balance one another. The two components can be knocked off balance with a slight breeze or the touch of a hand, but they eventually make their way back to the original composition.

Like many fixtures, the Bilanciato Pendants can be used independently or clustered in groups. They’re readily available in seven colorways but can also be made to order in any of J Schatz’s 17 signature colors.
